Why Should You Come to Cornerstone Granite?
There are many businesses that can sell you granite countertops. Some may seem less expensive than Cornerstone Granite. But consider the following narrative.
Day 1
While wandering the aisles of you favorite big box, pushing your orange cart filled with nails, hammer, toilet plunger and a salad spinner, you pass a granite counter display. Cool...that is exactly what my house needs to top off my remodel! The big ad says $65 per square foot installed! Such a deal! You decide to head home and discuss it with your spouse.
Day 2
Your wife loves the idea....you sit there with a calculator and figure your new tops should cost around $3600. You both head into the store and sit down with a “designer”. The granite samples are 3x3 chips. It turns out the color you want is in some weird thing called “Group 3” and the edge you like is “Group 2” and the undermount sink is extra, as is the curve you wanted on the front of the island. The actual cost works out to $5200. You ask if you can see the slabs. They say “NO!” But don’t worry, it will look like the sample. You are annoyed at the price increase but figure since they are the cheapest for hammers and toilets, the same must be true for natural stone. You sign the contract and they tell you that it will not be installed for another 6 weeks. The good news is they can measure and make templates in 2 weeks.
Day 16
The subcontractor that makes the counter has their sub-sub contractor that makes the measurement and template call to set the appointment. He says he will be there between 9am and 12am to measure. To your surprise he does not show up until 3:00 pm with out a call. He asks, “What type of sink do you have? It does not appear on my work order.” He asks to use your phone to call his boss to get the info. He apologizes, explaining that he has way to many jobs to measure. You can not believe this service for the kind of dough you just forked out.
Day 47
You have dinner at your friends house. They have a granite counter with amazing gold colors, huge waves and tons of interesting patterns. You ask where they got the granite. They explain that they went to a shop that had 100s of slabs in stock. The selection was amazing. The stone you picked looks like tan oatmeal compared to this stuff. (if only you had known...)
Day 52
The install crew shows up with your counters and they are dismayed that the old countertops are still in your kitchen. They are not allowed to disconnect the sink or the cooktop to remove the old counters. You call and ask to speak to the manager at the big box and are shocked when he explains that removal of the tops is not part of the quote. He apologizes. While you are on the phone, the installers are getting ready to leave. You ask them where they are going? “Our boss told us to come back to the shop” The $5200 cost just jumped as you had to hire someone to remove your tops, not to mention the time you have wasted and the frustration. What a pain.
Day 63
The counters have been removed and the installers are coming to install (this was no easy feat...it took several calls and threats to get such a quick return date) They bring in your granite and you notice that the color is a little lighter than you expected. You rummage thru the trunk of your car and find the sample. Sure enough, the sample is darker than your counters. You call your “kitchen designer” to ask how this happened. She explains that this is normal for natural stone, did you read the fine print on your contract? (Your were right....you should have insisted on seeing the slabs) They finish the job....it looks okay....but how could you be happy? You paid extra to remove the tops, you wasted a ton of time, then you realize you have to hire a plumber to hook up your sink. If only they had told me....$65 per foot...ya right! Typical loss leader, bait and switch tactics.
Day 95
It is christmas....many friends and family are at your house and comment on your remodel. All you are thinking is: “Why did I buy my counters from a place that sells toilets and salad spinners....never again!”
Welcome to Cornerstone Granite.
We will tell you what it is going to cost, our part, and the parts you don’t think about. We will let you pick your exact slab...we will show the stone to you and let you decide which ones you want. You do not look at a 3x3 chips.
We will get it done...right and on time.
